Stratus® vs HX One: No Competition

Posted by Landon McCoy on

Seven for the price of (less than!) one.

Among guitar pedals, Stratus® holds so many advantages that the competition is a rout. Players immediately discover that Stratus® is more than just a pedal. It’s a platform.

Other pedals, such as the HX One, have settled for clunky user interfaces, limited potential for customization and a lack of cross-platform compatibility between hardware devices.

The all-in-one Stratus® pedal, developed by Chaos Audio and distributed internationally, is a wide-open platform that is open to plugins developed by others. A single software purchase opens the platform to all of a user’s hardware — Mac; PC; Stratus®, itself; and more to come.

HX One limits users to one algorithm at a time. The use of multiple HX One pedals or a combination of HX One and other guitar pedals is required to assemble a "full rig," not to mention the lack of amp models. With Stratus®, players can run an entire rig of plugins, including amp and cabinet models starting this November.

Stratus® is an asset for guitar players of all skill and experience levels. It benefits the beginner who is just getting started, giving them all the effects they need to craft their unique sound. Plus, it offers hands-free preset switching with no extra controller required.

At the same time, it wins accolades from pros with features such as MIDI control and a looper that runs alongside the effects chain.

Is it fair to ask: Why spend $299 on an HX One when Stratus® is essentially seven of them stacked together, with amp modeling, and costs only $249?
