The Sonicake Pocket Master costs $64.99, weighs 194 grams, runs four hours on its own battery, and — since a 2025 firmware update — loads Neural Amp Modeler captures from TONE3000. It is, by a wide margin, the cheapest piece of hardware on Earth that will play a NAM file, and one reviewer's honest verdict is that it's "priced almost like a toy" with "serious software behind it." We agree with both halves. The Stratus is the other end of the same idea: native NAM as the amp engine, a real effects chain, a looper, MIDI, stage-grade metal, and an AI that writes new effects — for $299. What $65 buys, honestly
More than any reasonable person would expect. Sonicake's Pocket Master is a whole practice rig in a box smaller than a phone: 20 amp models built on their white-box algorithm, over 100 effects across nine blocks, 100 presets, a tuner, a drum machine with 99 patterns, a looper, a stereo headphone output that doubles as a line out, a USB-C interface that works with phones and tablets over OTG, Bluetooth for wireless editing, and a battery that lasts a practice session. Then the firmware update that earned it a place in this series: five slots for NAM captures and five for IRs, importable from the phone app. Reviewers who've loaded their own amp captures say the fidelity is a step below the real NAM plugin — the files are converted, and only full-rig captures with the cab baked in are supported — but that it "impressively reproduced" an amp's character regardless. For a first modeler, a travel companion, or a way to find out whether NAM is for you, it's close to free.
