Use Tone Shop plugins in a desktop DAW

Use the Tone Shop Plugin Installer for effects offered in desktop format. The current installer is labeled early access.

Choose a format

ComputerFormats currently listed
MacAudioUnit (AU), VST3, AAX. AU is currently stereo only.
WindowsVST3 and AAX.

Install and load

  1. Download the installer for your operating system from the official page.
  2. Use the Chaos Audio account associated with the available plugins.
  3. Install the formats your DAW supports, then rescan plugins in that DAW if necessary.
  4. Load the effect on an audio track and test it at a comfortable listening level.

Early-access notes

The installer page currently notes an Eclipse crashing issue, a Dark Matter UI issue, and no Windows installation-success notification. Check that page for current fixes and limitations.

Hardware compatibility

A desktop plugin file cannot be installed directly on Stratus or Nimbus. Cross-platform access applies where the effect is offered in each format; an AI-created hardware effect is not automatically a downloadable desktop plugin.

If a purchase is missing, check the account and contact support before buying it again.
