Start creating with AI FX Builder
By Landon McCoy · Updated September 10, 2026
Describe an effect in plain language, listen to the result, refine it, then publish it to your account and install it on Stratus or Nimbus.
Applies to: Stratus and Nimbus.
Choose where to create
| Option | Best for |
|---|---|
| Chaos Audio mobile app | Creating an effect and getting it onto your connected hardware. |
| FX Builder in a web browser | Listening and refining at a larger screen, designing artwork, or using advanced code tools. |

Start with a clear prompt
Describe the core sound, what you will play through it, and the controls you need. For example: “A warm delay for clean guitar, with controls for time, repeats, tone, and mix.” Start simple; add one change at a time after listening.
From an idea to hardware
- Sign into your Chaos Audio account and check your build balance.
- Describe the effect and generate it. Keep the generation open until it reports a result.
- Listen and adjust the controls. Refine the prompt if the behavior needs to change.
- Publish to your account, then use the mobile app to install it to the hardware.
What uses the cloud?
Generation and compilation require internet access. Once installed, the finished effect runs locally on Stratus or Nimbus. A web preview is useful for auditioning, but it is not a recording of your physical hardware.
FX Builder 2.0 preview
The upcoming web workflow uses Studio → Design → Share; the mobile app adds an optional pedal-finish picker. See the dedicated preview guides in this category.
