FX Builder 2.0: create from the mobile app

Create a custom effect in the Chaos Audio app, choose an optional finish, and install the result to your connected device.

Software preview · September 2026. This guide includes the latest app and firmware workflow. Recent changes are not yet verified as available in every public release. If your controls differ, use the update available to you; do not install development firmware just to match this guide.

Applies to: Stratus and Nimbus.

Create

  1. Sign into Chaos Audio and open FX Builder.
  2. Check Builds remaining, then enter a description of the core sound.
  3. Leave Pedal finish on Automatic or choose a finish. This changes the visual design, not the effect’s sound.
  4. Generate the effect and wait for the app’s success message.
  5. Find the effect in My Created FX and install it on the connected Stratus or Nimbus.

For more complex ideas

Start with the main sound and refine in stages. If the app suggests simplifying a complex request, use that as a way to isolate what you need rather than adding every feature at once.

If generation is interrupted

Check the result and your effect library before starting another generation. Keep the exact error if it fails. Account generation, downloading the effect, and installing it to hardware are separate steps.

After installation

Add the effect to a chain, adjust its controls, and save a preset. The same generated effect works across Stratus and Nimbus.
