FX Builder 2.0: create and refine in Studio

By Landon McCoy · Updated September 15, 2026

Studio brings the conversation and an interactive audio audition together, so you can hear each change before refining again.

Applies to: Stratus and Nimbus.

Create your effect

  1. Open FX Builder and sign into the same Chaos Audio account you use in the app.
  2. In the 2.0 interface, choose Simple mode and create an effect. Describe the sound you want in Studio.
  3. Wait for the returned result, then choose sample audio, upload your own recording, or select Live Input.
  4. Start playback and turn the pedal controls to hear their effect. Compare with the effect bypassed.

Refine one thing at a time

Ask for a specific change, such as “make the repeats darker” or “add a control for modulation depth.” A refinement changes the generated effect and uses a build. Turning the existing knobs only adjusts the current sound.

Live input

Choose the intended input device and grant browser permission when prompted. Use headphones or a monitoring setup that avoids feeding the speakers back into a microphone. Start with a low monitoring volume.

Continue to Design and Share

Design controls the appearance. Share publishes the effect to your account. On smaller screens, Studio may separate Conversation and Audition into views; neither view is the physical hardware connection.
