Fix Bluetooth connection problems

By Landon McCoy · Updated September 10, 2026

Check app permissions and connect from inside Chaos Audio before resetting or reinstalling anything.

Applies to: Stratus and Nimbus.

Start here

  1. Power the hardware and wait for startup to finish.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth and move the phone or tablet close to the device.
  3. Close any other active app connection to the hardware.
  4. Open Chaos Audio’s device scan and try again. Do not rely only on the phone’s Bluetooth pairing page.
Check these before reinstalling the app. Hardware: Powered, startup finished, nearby. Permissions: Bluetooth; Android also checks Location. App connection: Close another phone’s connection and scan. Reinstalling can lose unsynced local presets. Preserve your work first.

iPhone or iPad

If the app says Bluetooth is off when the phone’s Bluetooth is on, check the app’s own Bluetooth permission in iOS Settings. Enable access for Chaos Audio, reopen the app, and scan again. Settings labels vary by iOS version.

Android

Allow the requested Nearby devices / Bluetooth permissions and Location while using the app. The latest Chaos Audio Android app checks Location permission as part of its scan requirements even on newer Android versions. If scanning still returns no devices, also check that the phone’s Location service is enabled. Permission names vary by Android version.

Still missing?

Restart the app and, when no update or transfer is running, power-cycle the hardware. Check supported app and firmware updates. Avoid deleting the app as an early step because unsynced local presets may be lost.

Send useful details

Tell support your device/OS, app version, hardware firmware version if known, exact error, and whether the LEDs complete startup.
