Power Stratus and prevent power noise
By Landon McCoy · Updated October 3, 2026
Use a center-negative 9V DC supply rated for at least 400mA. An isolated power output is recommended.
Before connecting power
- Check the voltage, DC marking, center-negative polarity, and current rating on the supply.
- Use a dedicated isolated output. Avoid sharing a daisy-chain power lead with other pedals.
- USB-C can power Stratus from a suitable USB power source, including the phone-style USB power bank demonstrated in the tutorial. Stratus has no internal battery. Keep the power source connected, and try isolated 9V power if USB introduces audio noise.

Startup
Connect power and wait for the blue/pink startup animation to finish; the tutorial allows about 10 seconds. Actual startup time can vary. The LEDs should then respond to the controls. The device can restore a saved playing mode, so its startup color alone is not a universal factory-mode guarantee.
If you hear hum or noise
- Turn down the listening volume. Try the recommended isolated 9V supply.
- Disconnect unnecessary USB connections and simplify the audio chain.
- Test the guitar and cables with the amp or interface directly, then add Stratus back.
- If noise remains, send support your power-supply label and a description of the complete rig.
